David Cassius, MD

Dr. David Cassius specializes in minimally invasive procedures to relieve pain, dramatically speed recovery, and help patients avoid surgery.

He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with sub-specialty certification in Pain Medicine. His goal is that his patients should be pain free and fully functional as quickly as possible.

After finishing his residency training at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Cassius was asked to join the staff of the prestigious Cleveland Clinic.  He practiced there for a few years and was then recruited to Seattle by Virginia Mason Medical Center.  He began his private practice seven years ago to better control all aspects of his patients’ care and devote more time to lecturing and research about Segmental Neuromyotherapy.

Dr. Cassius has trained extensively with Andrew Fischer, MD, PhD.  Together, and with Marta Imamura, MD, PhD, they developed the technique of Segmental Neuromyotherapy over ten years ago.  This technique of diagnosis and treatment is based on the concept of spinal segmental sensitization, which is an upregulation of specific areas in the spinal cord in response to noxious stimuli.  By identifying areas of sensitization and then removing them, pain can be eliminated.  He has been asked to present and lecture on this technique both throughout the USA and internationally, including Europe, Israel, South and Central America, China, Japan, and Korea.
